rec post: other people's creations

for all you Romantics at heart:

marysutherland's hilarious British Library crack!fic, By The Book (Sherlock, John, time-travel and jokes I wouldn't dream of spoiling for you) and her follow-up post today, reminded me that I hadn't yet played this video by disastrolabe :

terrific fun - I have never seen the film but clearly that's a gap in my education that needs to be filled.

meanwhile, if you haven't already done so, read marysutherland's fic, read the follow-up, and watch the video!

(the icon is by woe_in_a_hoodie, from his excellent series The Top Secret Livejournal of Sherlock Holmes, also thoroughly recommended)

I think the vid's better than the film, which annoyed me intensely (particularly on Mary's behalf), apart from (a) a cameo by Andy Serkis as John Thelwall, because cameos by Andy Serkis are always brilliant, and (b) a scene in which John Hannah gave a very fine rendition of someone who has just taken drugs attempting to act perfectly normally in front of an unexpected visitor.

thank you - I can imagine both those things would be well worth watching. I don't think I've seen anything by Julien Temple since Absolute Beginners, which is a very long time ago now. I was very taken with the vid.
