Oooooh! Thanks for sharing these links! I knew that Steven Moffat was a big fan of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (and it's not a surprise that Mark Gatiss is a fan as well), but I didn't realize that it was such a big inspiration for Sherlock. I thought they might have taken some inspiration from it (especially in terms of the Sherlock/Mycroft relationship), but it's great to have it confirmed. Uh, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is my favourite Sherlock Holmes film of all time and Robert Stephens is my second favourite Holmes (after Jeremy Brett).

Sorry. Went off on a bit of a Holmes geekfest there. *g* The article about Benedict Cumberbatch is also great. I love that anecdote about him almost going into hysterics because of the reaction he's received from fans.

very glad you enjoyed them. I must seek out the film as I've never seen it!

I definitely recommend The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. It's worth it for the brilliant dialogue alone! :-)

Speaking of film recs, I accidentally ordered Maurice from Amazon.ca the other day. *g* You probably know this, but there are interviews with the cast and screenwriter of Maurice on YouTube. It gave me some great background on the film and allowed me to drool over Rupert Graves:

that sounds like a very happy accident. *grins*

yes, kopoushka gave me a link to the extras - sadly my DVD does not have them so I've only seen them on YouTube. James Wilby was also very useful when trying to imagine what Maurice would be like in his forties!

That's wonderful! I hope you enjoy it! :-D

I'll be sure to let you know when I've had a chance to watch Maurice. I'm having it sent to my parents (as packages sent to me tend to get lost or stolen), so I may not get my hands on it for a couple of weeks. However, I'm sure it's worth the wait.

Oh great, Cumberbatch. Just be more fucking awesome why don't you? Because it wasn't like I was descending into flailing lunacy already.

*grits teeth and tries to remind self is too old for schoolgirl crushes*
